I can't put my finger on what exactly kept me from liking this book more than I did. The concept wasn't unique but it had enough interesting elements to set it apart, the two main characters were well-developed, and the setting was compelling. It took nearly 200 pages for me to start really caring about either June or Day. Even then, I really only cared about those two and not really about their families. I did like it enough to be glad that it is a series.Comment - I read a library copy of this book. The gold font color for Day and the black font color for June worked well. It's things like that that make me wonder how it translates for e-readers.
